Today, I went with Brian to a spot that he wanted help figuring out. I wasn’t sure I could do anything for him, but I figured I would give it a try since he asked.

I’ve never been to the place, and he wanted a second opinion about a few things. While I’m no expert, I know that sometimes things can seem much clearer when more sets of eyes are looking at them.

When he showed me what he was talking about, I concluded that his setup was perfect. I would have set up in the same spot where he likes to sit. The deer are funneled from a lot of different areas into a bottleneck. It’s the only way they can get to where they want to go. It’s an ideal spot.

He always asks why he never sees any bucks while sitting there. In reality, it’s simple: he just doesn’t sit there enough, and he’s never there when the timing is right. I think I could do some damage if I hunted it regularly.

We spent the rest of the day wandering around. He wanted to show me a bunch of things, so I took him up on the offer and followed him around.

I was exhausted when we got out of the woods. We put on a lot of miles, more than I had anticipated putting on. I’m not sure we accomplished anything, but it felt good to see some different country. It was a nice day, but it was a little breezy for my liking.
