The wind was howling here today. There’s snow on the ground a little north of here and it looks like it might be staying for a few days. That won’t be bad because most of the leaves are gone up there. I can’t wait to get in the woods for the entire day. It seems like these nights after work just don’t give me what I need. Sign is starting to pop up. I finally found where some bucks are hanging out and I’ll do my best to spend some time there before I leave for the Midwest. I’d like to catch up to one of these bucks. Although I don’t have anything big on camera yet I know there are a few lurking. The big one I got on video at the end of the year last year hasn’t shown up, but I have a feeling he will in the next few weeks.

I pulled my card from a camera I had on a mock scrape I made a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of does in the scrape and a few bucks, too. I’m hoping this is where the big boy shows up. Although it’s a long and rigorous walk to get there I think it might be worth it when the late season rolls around. It’s steep terrain and very close to where I killed my first buck. I haven’t hunted the area since I was a kid and tonight I was able to glance back in time. It seems like a lifetime ago, yet it also seems like it was yesterday. I was a much different person then. Life has brought me some incredible things since that time and my father has given me more than any one person could have ever asked for. I will be forever thankful for that. He showed me everything I know about hunting. I can’t take much credit at all. He led and I followed. Together, as a team, we have done quite well over the years.

We’re  headed north Saturday morning. I’m not sure what we will be doing for the entire weekend, but we’ll figure something out. Here are the pictures of the bucks that visited the mock scrape. We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.
